Adventure Session in Olympic National Park || Cam + Hannah

To begin the story of Cam and Hannah weā€™re gonna have to go back a few years. My husband James met Cam 4 or 5 years ago through a mutual friend of ours. Just a bunch of guys trying to get out to ride more bikes, ski more snow, and generally just get more stoked. I finally met Cam when James was helping him with some video work and he is one of the easiest people to get along with right off the bat. Just a tall, blonde teddy bear who wants to be doing some sort of outdoor activity at almost any waking moment. Our friend group went out one year for New Years Eve and I finally got to meet his amazing wife Hannah. A short brunette with an amazing sense of style and just loves a good couch cuddle with her dogs but can be convinced to take a tequila shot or two if weā€™re out for a celebration. Hannah and I quickly bonded over our love of photography and sheā€™s been such a great friend to have in this crazy industry.

Over the years the four of us have all become a lot closer, spending nights cooking dinner for each other, going on group mountain bike rides, and celebrating each others achievements. Hannah took some amazing in home portraits for us after we welcomed our baby girl Sawyer to the world and they will forever be some of my favorite photos to have for life. Last year James and I finally got the engine replaced in his 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon and we were excited to start doing some van trips with it! Cam and Hannah own a sprinter van so we decided last August to all set out for a weeklong van life trip to the west coast of Washington State, more specifically Olympic National Park. Cam has recently gotten in to surfing so him and James spent the first few days riding the waves off First Beach in La Push while Hannah, the dogs, Sawyer and I enjoyed the rare sunny day we were granted and kept an eye out for vampires and werewolves (sorry I had to sneak a Twilight reference in there, I have no control). When we picked the dates for our trip we realized they fell in line with Cam and Hannahs wedding anniversary so I asked Hannah if I could take some adventurous photos of them while we were at the beach because I really couldnā€™t give up a dream location like that!

Our last night in La Push we hopped around the bend to Rialto Beach to take some portraits. I have been to Rialto before but forgot how truly beautiful it is, looking out over the huge crashing waves as the sun got lower in the sky. The beach was busy but thankfully it is big enough for us to find a beautiful spot and still feel a little sense of privacy. We admired the huge rocks jetting out of the ocean back near First Beach and ran from the waves as the tide came in. It was so fun to get a little creative with some friends and get to really enjoy this beautiful place. Weā€™re already planning the next van trip and I think it will involve the ocean again for sure. Canā€™t get enough of the sound of ocean waves crashing and feeling the sand between your toes. For now I will be reminiscing with this warm windy anniversary/adventure session.
